Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre collaboration that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying changes resonate through the darkness." The storyline features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Changes
The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Rewards and Bonus Features
Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an exclusive katana together with multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This signifies not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
