Despite embarking on their maiden European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without key players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the last 16, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This occasion provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after arriving on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
