Nearly 25,000 Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Severe Storms
Nearly twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems passed over the area, bringing wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing power throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the widespread outages.
Victoria's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around one thousand energy customers in Victoria also faced power outages after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Rescue organizations handled over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous emergency calls
- Wyndham - over 175 emergency requests
At the height on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across different parts of both areas.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This alert comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
